Spriiiiiiing Happiness =]

So, we went to the Botanic Gardens in Brooklyn on Tuesday.  Planted a whole bunch of seeds, and got to take them home.  I had no desire to grow these plants whilst still in Manhattan, because I'm moving out in about 20 days and reaaaaaaaaaally don't need to try to fit 6 potted fledglings in our packed minivan with my angry and sweaty father.  So I left it for a few days, realized the half a carrot was gonna start to rot, and set about pulling the seeds from their pots to be planted at a later day.

I reach into the sunflowers, and to my amazement, without direct sunlight (read:  still in the shopping bag they gave us for transport), with no water or care, two of the three sunflower seeds had sprouted teeny-tiny roots.  I decide to let them grow - them and the giant piece of ginger, which is currently possibly dying.

Either way, today I noticed that one of them was basically up, and a second was close on its heels.  I also noticed the third one also has a root, because when I dug for it, it was firm and in place.  So I covered them all back with dirt, afraid I hadn't buried them deep enough, but am considering one of them as being born today, and the second one born tomorrow.  The eldest has been named Petey, and the second one is Spence, as named by MikeNappi.  I almost wanna make it Biblical, and name them Jacob and Esau because its such a close 'birth'...but I don't want lil Esau to get any ideas and turn out all red and furry and steal Petey's birthright.  Yeah, I went there.

The third plant still needs a name, though.  I was sorta thinking Iggy, but I also really like Abigail (NOT Abby).  Any suggestions?
